build, with buildings: walls, windows, doors, and roofs; with building blocks, timber, steel; with cold, hot, rain and snow; light, time, power and passion. we lay empires of friendship and families through big blocks of values: honesty, trust, and respect. but how do we lay the foundations? where and how do we prioritize?
happy birthday jose.

one of the biggest limitations in architecture is the lack of mobility and versatility in structure and in material; in most buildings that aren’t frozen into icons or into a moment that will forever remain anyway. continuing my negative perception of such wonderful space and visual delight, the loops and curves in this wonderful museum will stay as a circular ramp, in which repetition does not allow variation.

happy new year! a symbolic day for new beginnings, fresh starts and new opportunities. i like to see it as if we’re cruising through a tunnel of opportunities through our lives. we move on a fast pace, picking up as much as we can and leaving what we have to behind in order to learn and to move faster. that is, to achieve our neverending goals and missions.
happy birthday paola

a simple plain image of the morning dew on the widshield of a car during sunrise. one of the favorite “things” of a typical winter morning in san francisco. it is the best feeling to wake up before most of the people from time to time, going out and exploring these special sizes, textures, and colors that no one has changed in the dew yet.

it is almost surreal the contrast of these two historical walls with a perfectly and relatively new laid street running along. so tight there is no walkway for pedestrians. in this captured moment, in such a small segment of the road, i feel the definition of the lines are so strong that it’s dictating a destination. then again, where are we? where is everybody? left or right?

this is a monument to jean sibelius, a finnish composer from the romantic period who had a very significant role in defining the finnish identity. this abstract monument designed by elia hiltunen consists of six hundred hollow steel pipes which represent the essence of sibelius’ music. being the first abstract monumet of finland, it has been strongly criticized through time as some of the finnish contributors prefered a more figurative representation.

one of my favorite airports in the world: hong kong international. it was expanded recently (a few years back) with terminal two designed by rmjm architects, affering this interesting interior.

look back into time now.. or look into detail. not too sure why, but this is what this owl always reminds me of. located in downtown san francisco, it is hard to miss out on the famous owl tree corner. this is now the ninety third post and marks the third month of a daily photo.
