ah, savannah at night. personally, one of the most relaxing places i could be right now. to some, it can be a little creepy to go to forsyth, or any park in general to just sit back and enjoy the night. as for myself, i listen to the night, breathe the grass, and feel the moisty southern airs from the atlantic breeze. walk around the fountain, lay down in the grass and submerge into the quick clouds reveling with the stars.

a typical night walk out by the west boundary street stream or river or that controlled current of water that merges into the savannah river at the head of river street. a beautiful combination or clear skies, moon shine and street lights allows us fortunate “savannahians” to enjoy of this beautiful night scene.

it is along the mysteries of the night where one is able to wander and explore the secrets of nature and our involvement with it. walking down the midnight streets of savannah, where the low pressure sodium-vapor lamps flood the environment with its bright yellow rays. even though it dims our lunar lit skies with its pressence, we are able to mix these colors to observe a contrast in our daily scenery.

as the sun sets, a new perspective comes to light. night turns into day as day turns into night, and the essence of tranquility can be felt as the traffic lights orchestrate pedestrians and vehicular pending all around.

a few people have been confused with this photo. for some others, it’s pretty obvious that it’s just the reflection of chinese red lanterns on puddles. it is a pleasant feeling to see lanterns everywhere in china, where not only it adds to the decorative feel of any place, but it provides a warm sensation to your eyes. to think of the natural feel when they were lit by candles in previous versions, some random flickering would add to a more natural and personal warming feeling.

happy mid-autumn festival. also known as the moon festival, is a popular harvest festival celebrated by asians. it is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth month in the chinese calendar (or lunar calendar), parallel to the solar equinoxes as the moon is roundest and fullest. it is traditionally celebrated with family and moon cakes.
just to clarify, this photo was taken two years ago on a full moon night in the middle of the dessert, as it rose from the dunes. it is not the same moon you’ll see tonight.

back to savannah. inside a construction a humid, warm windy night: one of those where the empty paperwrappers are flying through the streets as the street fences “cling” with their locks and chains with leaves dragged through by the wind itself. as i climbed up to the third storey of the scaffold i just looked up to the inmemorable clouds where every now and then the moon and stars would peek out from.

just up north from the university of california at berkeley campus is a very nice and pleasant designated area for professors and alumni to reside. as one goes up the old narrow streets, there is a strange feeling these streets gives, making you feel like if you were entering an old and remote european town. this photo was taken from the living room of one of these houses. imagine having this sunset everyday: berkeley in the bottom, san francisco to the mid left and the golden gate right in the middle connecting sausalito and the whole marin county.
