on a calm and breezy afternoon, the mayoreo market in avenida 10 is quite and considerably deserted. located as a secondary entrance to the downtown core from west to east, its neighboring municipality makes this site a prominent landmark; and the other way around of course. i find a mission in me to explore such public spaces, that are not yet public enough; capture them and promote them.

so many kinds of mushrooms there are, and such little amounts of them i actually know about. rootless and seedless, fungi spreads in dark and moist places. like everything in life though, there is a variety of them in which some are consumable, some are consumable in a different way like some that glow in the dark and some others can be fatal. either way, just the healthy ones come in so many shapes, sizes, colors, and so many benefits, from proteins to vitamins to such amazing tastes. lucky for me, china is the world’s largest exporter of mushrooms, which i am enjoying so much of.

i’m not sure, but it didn’t seem as the common sunflower we tend to see. the inner florets appear to be darker and larger in a messy way. they might be dry, but since this took place in one of the largest flower markets in china, i thought it could have been a different kind too. the petals are lighter and the “golden” interconnecting spriral is not that obvious. by different kind and taking in account that the flower comes from a massive wholesale market, i just meant to think of the bio-genetical engineering aspects of it. food for thought.

for those of you who don’t know harrods, it’s a department store located in knightsbridge, london. starting in 1834 as a wholesale market and moving to this actual building in 1849, it has been able to exhibit major innovations in the retail of quality and luxury goods. the harrods motto is “omnia omnibus ubique”, meaning “all things for all people, everywhere. a good experience and different experience to those visitors fanatic of the luxury lifestyle goods.

one of my (many) favorite places in the world. this market has such a remarkable character of itself that even the sign inspires from far away. so many feelings within just one perfect setting: great music, great people, flowers, bread, coffee, seafood, and seattle. all in one place.

marimberosmarimbas are one of my favorite instruments. specially the larger ones where even four people can play it. the happy tunes that are usually played often responsible for smiles and some dancing. these performers are spotted every weekend at the local farmers market playing and singing tirelessly, but visually, their wrinkles tell another side of the truth and their expressions communicate fatigue. i can’t help but wonder how one ends where they do as they age.
