build, with buildings: walls, windows, doors, and roofs; with building blocks, timber, steel; with cold, hot, rain and snow; light, time, power and passion. we lay empires of friendship and families through big blocks of values: honesty, trust, and respect. but how do we lay the foundations? where and how do we prioritize?

these are more remote areas on the tybee coast. just a few springs ago, i was able to celebrate with my closest college peers together around a small and short fire. at night of course, and i must admit to be guilty of using these destroyed fences as fire wood as well. they were just sticks laying waiting for a destructive college student to light up. was fun indeed at the time.

ah, savannah at night. personally, one of the most relaxing places i could be right now. to some, it can be a little creepy to go to forsyth, or any park in general to just sit back and enjoy the night. as for myself, i listen to the night, breathe the grass, and feel the moisty southern airs from the atlantic breeze. walk around the fountain, lay down in the grass and submerge into the quick clouds reveling with the stars.

a typical night walk out by the west boundary street stream or river or that controlled current of water that merges into the savannah river at the head of river street. a beautiful combination or clear skies, moon shine and street lights allows us fortunate “savannahians” to enjoy of this beautiful night scene.

it is along the mysteries of the night where one is able to wander and explore the secrets of nature and our involvement with it. walking down the midnight streets of savannah, where the low pressure sodium-vapor lamps flood the environment with its bright yellow rays. even though it dims our lunar lit skies with its pressence, we are able to mix these colors to observe a contrast in our daily scenery.

merry christmas, hannukah, kwanza, or whatever it is you celebrate. in this modern age, i’m not even sure what it is we celebrate anymore: be it x’mas, globalization or just another reason to eat turkey.. what matters is that most people gather: friends, family and other acquaintances together in warmth and cheers. christmas trees, lights, and other decoration become a part of oir subconcious as we bond into a more serious connection.

it has been a long time since i sneak into abandoned buildings now. missing the rush, the nerves of tiptoeing through creaky floors and mysteriously lit halls at night. the slightest sound of wind and dripping water gives you slight shivers and chicken-skin. missing the internal thrill to seek beauty in what we as people abandon. reminds me of “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”..

i’m not sure if it’s the cold or the haze.. or just the dust or something in the air. i seem to be losing my sense of orientation and control of space and time. as my north spins; east, west and south become south, west and east. clueless of a real and proper direction i wander and swirve with an inadequate sense of the so called “right” options towards.. (fill in the blank)?

by now, most of you know how crazily passionate i am with the sky: day, night, sunny, cloudy, all of the above. it is matter of appreciating the little temporary details in life that will fade and never be the same again. the beautiful aspect of this is that everytime it’s a whole new experience, and in every different experience you just keep looking for more little details and momentary forms that just take your breath away.
happy birthday kathy, thank you for your support and for helping me keep this site running.
