these beautiful days here in beijing are reminding me of home: still nice, just a bit nicer. not too long of a drive from anywhere in costa rica, one is blessed with amazing sights of greenery. these are usually complemented by bright blue skies, with some sort of a variation of clouds that play with the everbright sunlight. the temperature is also perfect.

marked by mayan civilation around two to four thousand years ago, these amazing rocks still hold their shapes and representations as we respect and preserve them. in this new year season, it is important to remind ourselves that even though time is passing and we are relieved from happenings we must value and treasure our memories and accomplishments for good or bad in order to progress and succeed.

today is another holiday again here in costa rica. “dia de la virgen de los angeles” (our lady of the angels): is the day where costa ricans celebrate with pilgrimages from all over the country to this virgen de los angeles basilica to see “la negrita”. this tradition has been carried along since more than two hundred years ago, expecting more people every year. with some two million people expected this year, the event was cancelled this year due to the virus a h-one n-one.

it is always relaxing to drive around town in a photo hunt. this horse was surprisingly found in a lot, with regular garden grass as you might see. this young and skinny horse just happened to be calmly posing for me in the heat of noon. cartago 2009

welcome to the jungle. or welcome to monumento nacional arquelogico guayabo here in costa rica. although guayabo is not nearly as breathtaking as mayan or aztec archaeological sites, excavations have unearthed sophisticated infrastructure and mysterious petroglyphs making this the most important archeological site within the country.
